Alastair Thain

William Burroughs, London, 1988

Pen name William Lee, best known for being the primary figure of the Beat Generation. He wrote from an autobiographic angle. Despite writing 18 novels and novellas, Burroughs was best known for his first novel, Junkie published in 1953 but more famously, his third novel Naked Lunch published in 1959. Burroughs is also known for accidentally killing his 2nd wife, Joan Vollmer in a drunken game of William Tell.
